What goes into every guide on this site, who checks it, and how to report a mistake.

How we write and check our guides

Research

We use published cost guides, government and authority documents such as BNBC 2020 and RAJUK requirements, and quotes shared by homeowners and partner firms.

Write in plain language

Short answers first, details after. We avoid jargon or explain it when we have to use it.

Expert review

A registered architect, structural engineer or interior designer reviews every guide in their field before it goes live.

Cite sources

Every cost figure names its source and year.

Update

Cost guides are reviewed at least every six months, and whenever material prices change sharply.

Independence

Partner firms cannot pay to change what our guides say, and they never review content about their own services.

Corrections

If you find an error, email contact@bdhousedesign.com with the page link. We check and correct confirmed errors within five working days and note the change on the page.
